2013 the Year of the Deck Chair

How many Outdoor Chairs of the deck variety should a family own?  We have the standard table and Chairs outside plus a couple of others but not nearly enough for a medium to large gathering.  I have often decided to head to Bunnings or The Warehouse with the intent of purchasing more but I get there and they cost so much when buying a multiple amount that I end up walking away with Batteries, more coat hangers and a couple of light bulbs but no chairs.  Then we have a party and I have to resort to asking guests to bring their own seats cause I know we will have insufficient seating options to go round.  So this year I'm biting the bullet and making a New Years resolution to start buying fold up deck chairs, which will be stored in the garage when not in use just like my olds used to do when I was growing up Maybe I should plan for 2 per month.  That's 24 Chairs for next Christmas.  That seems excessive.   I'm not sure the husband will be pleased with 24 deck chairs in his garage.  How many do you own? God what a first world problem?!

  1. We own 6 wooden ones that sit around the outside table. A long bench that you have sat on and four green deck chairs (that should be replaced but TP has the same problem as you! To expensive - Just walk away! The we have the beach chairs that once you are in them you can't get out of them - especially after wine on a hot afternoon! Love Aunty Kaye

  2. you totally need to get some crates, we have just painted up four for our wedding, then when thats done might sew on some cushions as permanent stools. other than that we have outdoor table with bench seats attached so thats 4-6, 4fold out camp chairs, three other stools and the round bucket seats that always live on the deck. And two bean bags. Think we are always hoping for guests??? by seats each mth, so worth it and just hang them in garage already without husband seeing or knowing then tah dah next summer!

  3. got any bales of straw lying around? They work great as seats- with a blanket thrown over so the straw doesn't scratch your bum : )

  4. Now Becky that is one type of seat that will appeal to Farmer Shelley and she could buy Swandri blankets to go over the top. When required they could be used for Ruby's bed on the rare occasion she decides to sleep in her house in the garden.
